Doing an activity called ‘Prayer Walks’ is self-explanitory. Basically, you pray that the Holy Spirit will put people in your path to pray for as you walk throughout the community. Yes, we are assisting in rebuilding a house for an elderly gentleman during this week, but we are also called to build relationships with members throughout the community.

This type of ministry project is loosely planned and rarely programmed; in fact, the more forced planning there is, the least effective it becomes. For someone like me who is a type A scheduled minded rehibilitating control freak, this type of ministry activity gets me way out of my comfort zone. So when our group went out today ‘in search’ of those needing conversations and prayers, we were a bit frustrated that not many happened. Until…

Below is an excerpt from a participant’s journal…

“I serve as a Pastor in my church and love to pray over people. I thought that this type of activity would be easy for me to do; I mean, it’s in my job requirements. However, it’s really hard to do if there are not many people out to minister to during the walk. This is when the Holy Spirit steps in and I have to remember to wait on God’s timing. Although we didn’t speak to many people during ‘our scheduled’ time, God brought us the people that He wanted us to minister to in His timing. During the evening debrief time two separate people showed up to our living site asking for multiple prayers, food, and supplies. Items that we could only supply from our living site and not carried during our ‘scheduled prayer walk’ time. These Divine Appointments can only be orchestrated by the true living God.”

Prayer requests-

1. God will provide homes to those who are being evicted by the end of the month.

2. God will provide food and supplies to those who are starting new jobs and the first paycheck has not been issued.
