Ways we helped others

This past week a team from Colorado helped in the building of 2 homes.

At Miss Dorothy’s they finished putting sheet rock on the ceiling, then all the walls.  Miss Dorothy stopped in and visited.  She is excited to be moving into her house before the end of July.  Her church gave her a shower with gifts for her new home.

At Mr. Teddy’s home, they competed the work on the gables, built up the roof rafters and built walls.  The house is ready to for the next team to put up siding.  Mr. Teddy was usually on site and enjoyed team members sitting and visiting with him, his family members that stopped by, and some neighbors.

A group had VBS at Kess Creek Park each morning.

We had 2 house lots to work at clearing tornado debris.  That’s hard and hot work on a lot that doesn’t have trees.  We saw how the tornado dumped a widespread variety of items in a pile.  We came to learn that the tornado ripped through the town in about 23 seconds.

A group went to the fairgrounds to help as needed.  A large building has been in use to receive, organize, and distribute donated items.  They were loading school supplies into  backpacks for children for going back to school.  On Saturday there would be a huge event for the community.  There would be a concert, the giving of the backpacks, and kids would receive toys too.  A Christmas in July event.

We had a team go out doing prayer walking.  They would meet someone and ask if they had any needs.  They provided groceries for a couple of homeowners.  Nancy had a different need.  Her house was rebuilt by contractors.  They told her they would store her things safely for her while they rebuilt her home.  But they didn’t.  They stuck them under the carport.  The weather got to them and it was all ruined.  She needed help to get it hauled away to the landfill.   A church member has a flat bed trailer.  We arranged a time, and were able to remove it all for her.  She had one more need.  Her stove hook up didn’t match the one in her new house.  We bought the adapter for her and installed it.

Good job
